TalePop is a product of SnarkyByte LLC ("we", "us"). TalePop is designed for parents/guardians to use with their children under supervision.

This Privacy Policy covers what information we collect, how it is used, and what choices are available to you.

1) What we collect

A) Information you provide

  • Account & contact info: your email, first name, and last name (for account management and support).
  • Story Inputs: text you enter into the app (including ideas suggested by your child).
  • Saved story content: generated story text (and related data needed to store your library).
  • Support messages: the content of communications you send to us.

B) Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: how you interact with the Service (pages viewed, buttons tapped, session events).
  • Device and technical data: browser/device type, OS, language, timestamps, and similar.
  • Approximate location: may be derived from IP address by our analytics provider.
  • Cookies/local storage identifiers: used for login/session and analytics (see "Cookies & analytics").

2) How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide and operate the Service (accounts, saved library, story generation)
  • generate stories using AI providers (see below)
  • monitor performance, debug issues, and improve the Service
  • respond to support requests
  • comply with legal obligations when required

3) AI processing

To generate stories, we send Story Inputs (and limited necessary context) to third-party large language model (LLM) providers for processing.

  • Please do not include sensitive personal information about a child (address, phone, school, exact location, etc.) in story inputs.
  • We do not programmatically send your email, first name, or last name to AI providers. If you type personal information into a prompt, that content may be included because it's part of the input.
  • As an added safeguard, before any story is generated, we evaluate Story Inputs for the presence of personally identifiable information (PII) using two independent detection methods. If either method identifies PII, we reject the request and do not store or use the original text. If the input passes both checks, we store it as part of your story data for ensuring product quality.

4) Cookies & analytics

We use Mixpanel to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.

  • We do not send your email address, first name, or last name to Mixpanel. Authenticated users are identified by a randomly-assigned internal ID (Firebase UID) only.
  • Mixpanel may receive technical and device data, in-app actions, and approximate location derived transiently from your IP address (city, region, country). IP addresses are not stored by Mixpanel after this lookup.
  • Before you log in, Mixpanel assigns a random anonymous ID to track basic session data (such as app opens and screen views). This ID is not linked to your identity unless you sign in.
  • On web, Mixpanel may use cookies or local storage.

Your choices: on web, you can control cookies via your browser settings.

5) When we share information

We do not sell or share your personal information, except when required by law.

6) Children's privacy

Accounts are intended for parents/guardians. We do not collect, solicit, or knowingly store personal information from children.

Although we rigorously screen all story inputs for personal information before processing (see Section 3), if you believe any personal information about your child was submitted to TalePop, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will remove it as soon as possible.

7) Data retention

We keep account and saved story data as long as your account is active.

If you request to delete your account, we will delete your stored personal information and saved content within 14 days. Backups may persist for a limited time before being overwritten.

8) Your rights and choices

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (contact [email protected])

9) Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No system is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10) Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. If changes are material, we'll post an updated version in the app or on our website. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
